HE’S made in Scotland from girders and now Sir Alex Ferguson is set to receive the ultimate retirement present – tartan Irn-Bru slippers.
The fizzy drinks firm ordered a unique set of orange size nines with their red and blue plaid for the
Man United manager.
They will be sent to his Cheshire home later this week in plenty of time for Govan’s most famous export to try them on when he gets home from holiday early next month.
Irn-Bru chose footwear designers Buchanan Bespoke, a Govan firm who made a pair of brown leather brogues for Fergie last year.
Ryan Currie, 33, and his mum Diana run the company, who have 55 staff. Ryan said: “They asked if we would design a pair of slippers in Irn-Bru tartan for a special retirement gift for him. Needless to say, we were delighted. It was an absolute privilege.
“It took us a few weeks but they are ready and they look great.
“We are going to send them down so they will be there for him when he gets back.
“We wish Sir Alex all the best in his retirement and hope he really enjoys wearing his new slippers.”
